Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a compiled list of commonly asked questions that might help you in determining what some of the next steps of your therapy journey might look like. Also provided are answers to common thoughts that may be crossing your mind about therapy here.
01
What happens after I reach out?
After reaching out, Caitlin, our therapist, will strive to respond within 48 hours via email (barring weekends/holidays/vacations) to follow up with you. In her response, she will answer any questions you may have and schedule a quick 15-minute phone consult with you. This call will help better determine if we will be a good fit for each other, gather some basic information, and potentially schedule a first session.
03
How long do sessions or therapy itself last?
Sessions with Caitlin are either 45-50 minutes or 85-90 minutes. You and Caitlin will determine what fits best with you considering your goals, schedules, and fees. Generally, individuals opt for the shorter sessions while relational systems (couples, families, 2+ people) sometimes prefer the longer session times.

02
What does a first session typically look like?
The first session, or even two, can feel like a lot as a bit of "getting to know each other" needs to be done. As a therapist, we need to gauge your current comfort with therapy, understand why you are seeking services, learn more about the basis of your story, outline goals you would like to work toward, and answer questions that have come up for you about the therapy process.
04
Is there a sliding scale/reduced fee available?
Holistic Harmony is not currently offering sliding scales/reduced fee sessions. However, if finances are the only issue holding you back from starting services here, please still reach out and share this. Caitlin does not want finances to be the only factor holding you back. There are some other potential options we may be able to discuss or avenues Caitlin may be able to direct you to that are able to better meet your financial needs.
05
Do you take insurance?
Holistic Harmony does not accept insurance. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not typically support the mental health field in a non-pathologizing way. The humanistic approach Caitlin takes would have to be altered to fit into a strict insurance-approved plan and diagnosis. Despite not taking insurance, Caitlin does have the ability to offer SuperBills. This is essentially a receipt of your session. You pay her directly for the session, she provides you with this "receipt", you then submit it to your insurance, and they reimburse you. It is important to check with your insurance about this before deciding if you want to use this option, however, as not all insurances will cover, or fully cover, mental health services. Caitlin cannot check for you.
06
How often will we meet?
Generally, Caitlin will meet with her clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, she also occasionally meets monthly with clients who benefit more from spread-out check-ins. When therapy first starts, we will likely meet weekly to form a more trusting therapeutic relationship and get to know each other more soundly. After a few weekly sessions, together, we will determine what will best serve your needs and reach your goals.
07
Is telehealth an option?
Yes! Telehealth is an option for Kansas residents or folks who can physically be in the state of Kansas for the duration of the session. So if you are right on the state line of Missouri and Kansas, park your vehicle somewhere on the Kansas side and settle in for a session. Due to licensing restrictions, Caitlin is currently only able to offer services in Kansas, but will eventually be able to offer telehealth services in Missouri as well. If you are interested in telehealth , or a combination of telehealth and in-person sessions, we ask that you ensure you are in a private, quiet environment with good signal and your own technological device.
08
Do you prescribe medication or write ESA letters?
Caitlin does not prescribe any medications or approve any ESA (emotional support animals) here. If you are looking for someone to do these things, you might reach out to a primary care physician or psychiatrist depending on your needs. Although Caitlin does not have the authority to prescribe any medications, with your consent, she can collaborate with the person who prescribes your medication to provide more holistic care for you. This can help her understand more about your medical care while also providing information to your healthcare team as well. Oftentimes, therapists end up seeing and hearing more about your experiences and symptoms than those prescribing your medications simply because we see you more. Having collaborative care between all parties contributing to your mental and physical health can greatly benefit you so everyone stays in the know.
09
Are there stairs or an elevator?
Holistic Harmony is located on the lower level of the Westwood Colonial Building. This does mean there is a small set of stairs to get to our office. There unfortunately is not an elevator available. If you are unable to utilize stairs or require an elevator, we unfortunately cannot accommodate your needs for in-person sessions. However, we would be available to still meet with you as a virtual-only client. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
10
Is there free parking?
Yes! There is a small parking lot available for your use located at the front and side of the building. There is also a large and often unoccupied parking lot on the North end of the building off 48th Street. We highly recommend you enter at the North entrance to the building directly off 48th Street. Otherwise, you will be entering on a very steep, curved drive designated for easier exit.
11
How long does therapy last?
Therapy itself can last for a varying amount of time, depending on what you would like to get out of the process. Sometimes, people come in hoping to work through a goal that can be quickly achieved, leading to only a few sessions. Other times, therapy becomes an evolving process that can last a few months to a few years with ever-changing goals as your life advances. The short answer is therapy can last as long as you feel it is helpful and necessary to your growth.
12
What hours are you open?
Holistic Harmony does not have any walk-in business hours. Instead, Caitlin schedules sessions and consults by appointment only. Currently, Caitlin's schedule is Monday-Thursday 11 am to 6 pm. She typically schedules sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. If you reach out outside of these hours, that is completely fine, just know Caitlin's response may be a bit delayed.
